Owner/Employee Info/Comments:
When I finally decided to take over the store and become a comic book store owner, my one goal has always been to have a place where I would want to go. I try and have lots of cool things to see, so that every time you come in you can see something different every time. I saw what the girl who wrote about my store said, in the review below, and I knew instantly who wrote it. I hope when she does move to Madison, she continues to come and see us once in a while! She gave a nice little synopsis of a normal day at the store. Kids play video games and Magic and watch movies, and people come in and read comics, and more importantly share their thoughts about what they read with people who have the same interests! I've owned the store for a little over 6 years, and there has not been 1 single day in all that time where I woke up and thought "Oh darn, I have to go to work today". I love my store and the many and varied people who come into it. Stop by and say "Hi" if you happen to be in town. Thanks, M.J.

- This is by far my favorite store. I walked in one day, thinking that they wouldnt have a thing I was looking for. Boy was I wrong. This store has a ton of Buffy the vampire slayer stuff (thats what I really wanted). I walked to the back of the store and almost pissed myself. There on the wall was all I could ever dream for. Buffy comics, action figures, and more. The people there are super friendly, they gave me a 15% off card because he remembered me, HE REMEMBERED ME! This place is clean, the atmosphere is what a comic book store should be. This is the best comic book store I have ever been to, I now look forward to going to Green Bay on shopping trips, now that I have this place to visit. Its a great place to be, I love it!
- I called up The Great Escape about 4 days ago to see if they had a card that a friend of mine had purchased there for $20. I was told that he bought the card during a half-off sale, but if i were to come in and offer 20 dollars on the card anyway, he would sell it to me. This was possibly the best and most pleasurable experience dealing with a card/comic store i have ever had. Thanx The Great Escape. I would suggest anyone in the green bay area go to this store.
- The Great Escape is _the_ place in Green Bay for comics, in my personal opinion. I have been visiting for around 3 years now, and am always struck by how nice the staff is. They have a lot of back issues, some posters, figures, various CCGs, RPGs (new and used), board games, as well as tables for playing games on. I am not a big comic person, and for the most part, the comics that I am interested in are older, and therefore I do not pay much attention to the new comics and cannot give much into that. However, they do seem to have quite a variety...
In the past year, I have seen two storewide sales events, Halloween and Tax Day, and although I was unable to attend the latter, I did attend the former. The store was literally packed, but for the deals that they had... On a normal visit, there is not so many people that the noise/walking space is an issue, but it is not really dead either (granted that sometimes I have gone in there, usually when school is in session, and it has been pretty dead). There are certain nights when it gets a little loud (Pokemon games) but otherwise is a pretty laid back place.
The TV is still up front, set at a nice level (cannot hear it throughout the store) and there are still a lot of places to sit down at. The store is clean and well lit, which is usually not mentioned, but something that I find important. Overall, if you are looking for back issues, take a look at what the Great Escape has got. Have a seat, take a look through some of their bargain comics, or glance through the other products (figures, games and such).
- I don't know much about comics. Ok, I know nothing about comics. I just went to this place today to see a copy of Fray (the new comic by the creater of Buffy), and the guy who was working was really nice. He helped me find the last copy of Fray. There was a group of kids buying cards and a bunch of teen watching X-Men on a small tv in front of a big sofa. It was a nice place.
