Jersey's Comics and Cards is a very nice neighborhood store that cares about its customers and is continuing to improve. Just moved to a slightly larger location, Jersey's is spacious and very well-lit. The stock of both new and back issues is generous and obsessively organized. Provided you know how to spell, you should have no problem finding a book. Otherwise, the owners should be very happy to help you out. The back issues are consistently priced at 75% the Wizard guide rate, due to a perpetual sale. The back issues selection itself is fairly large; most bin divers should be pleased at the finds here. Their trade paperback selection is constantly and quickly improving. More and more shelf space is devoted to it. A couple of personal qualms with the store exist however. Their small press selection is very limited; most of their stock comes from the big four comic companies, but if that's what you're shopping for, you should be very pleased. Also most of the trade paperbacks are shrinkwrapped. While this ensures that you get a nice looking book, it obviously stifles a browsing experience (although they will take it out of the shrinkwrap if you ask). The reason for this is the last qualm: during the weekend and some weekdays the store hosts gaming tournaments in the back. This is a very nice community service, as most of the players are young and Pokemon-aged kids. But this adds a bit of a rugrat factor that increases the noise level of the store and forces the owners to protect their books so they stay in good shape from young curious hands. Similarly, to protect themselves from possible vindictive mothers, any book with nudity is bagged and boarded on the shelf. It's a nice gesture, but makes browsing the Vertigo rack a chore. For the most part, though, Jersey's is a good store run by good people. Again, anyone looking for any mainstream comic will be happily obliged here.
