Owner/Employee Info/Comments:
We always have FREE COMIC DAY 1st Saturday in May. We do file holds of comics. The owner does work here now, and has a good employee for the days I have to be away.

Store Review:

  1. I moved to Knoxville, TN six and a half years ago and immediately searched for all the available local comic stores. Knoxville had 4 stores at the time. Clinton has one and is about 20 minutes north. Sevierville has S & G and is about an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half away depending on traffic. I immediately felt comfortable and at home there. They have such a WIDE variety of everything that you could easily spend your time there just looking around. They can easily find what you need. Even when they are busy, all you have to do is ASK. They are always friendly and knowledgable. Even though the distance is a lot, I chose them as MY store and have a file there. They even file new books for me that is not on my list, that is related to my favorite subjects, on the chance that I might not know about them and would be interested. If problem. My job takes me all over East TN, and I have checked out comic stores all over my territory, but S & G Comics and Collectibles is my home away from home. To put it simply...they are the best in East Tennessee. [6/22/06]

  2. I last visited this store about 2 years ago and I loved it. I found lots of back issues I wanted and the store owner who was there at the time was really nice and helpful. On my recent visit , I discovered things have gone downhill. When I entered the store, the lone employee working at the time (not the owner from the previous visit) never said hello, never asked me if I needed help finding anything. During the 20 minutes or so I was in the store, not once did she even acknowledge my presence, and there were only 3 customers there. The store obviously has a lot of stuff. There are a lot of back issue boxes just like before and the selection of new comics is top notch. However, upon inspecting the back issue boxes, I found that most of them were filled with very recent issues. Very little over a few years old. In fact, a lot of it appeared to be multiple copies of newer books that weren't sold. There were a lot of back issue boxes crammed underneath the table that may have had some good, older stuff in them, but in order to look through them, you would have to pull them out and put them on the floor. Thus, I was very disappointed with the back issue selection on this visit. I don't know if the store has changed ownership or what, but compared to my previous visits to this store, this time was a huge disappointment all around. The new comic selection was great, but the back issue selection was very, very poor. And I quickly got very tired of being totally ignored by the employee working at the time. So for the first time in my life, I left a comic book store empty-handed. If you're not looking for back issues or friendliness, this store is probably okay, but I crossed this one off my list of favorite stores permanently. [3/9/06]

  3. S&G comics is quite simply the best comic store in East Tennessee. It has a great selection of new comics, back issues, mini-busts, statues, action figures, vintage toys, manga comics, and graphic novels. I try to go there at least once a week to check out all of their new stuff. Stan and Gail (the owners) are some of the nicest people that you will ever meet and they have a good knowledge of every thing they sell. If you live in, or are passing through the Seiverville Tennessee area, I recommend stopping by.
