- Borderlands is a pretty large store located in a large shopping plaza. The store is very spacious, and has a large gaming area in the center of the store, with gaming supplies on one side and comics on the other. On my visit, it appeared that the store is focused a bit more on gaming than on comics. They do have a huge selection of new comic books, and a pretty good selection of trade paperbacks and graphics novels. But the comics area makes up probably less than half of the large store.
Back issue selection...quite honestly, it's not good at all. Most of the back issues were newer books (less than 10 years old), and they weren't exactly well organized. The boxes on top of the tables were organized by title, but underneath there was another level of boxes that were totally unorganized. At the time I was there, a lot of boxes were stacked up in one area, and I assume they contained back issues, but it was impossible to look through them.
Because the store is so large, it is very clean and uncluttered. There is ample parking in the plaza (at least on Saturday morning) and the employees seemed friendly based on the very small amount of interaction I had with them. The store could do with spreading the back issue boxes out a bit more and organizing ALL of them by title. Other than that, the store is quite nice and worth a visit if you're in the Greenville area. It is one of two stores located very near each other on Laurens road (less than 1/2 a mile between them), so check them both out when you're in town. [09/02/09]
- A great store, friendly employees, a lot of selection of new comics, decent back issue section, very clean store; best comic store in Greenville, SC.
