Store Review:

The Ontario Street Market is basically a small warehouse with a little over half the space dedicated to comicbooks. The store is easily recognizable when you come down the street, not because of the store front (which is just a blank wall, except for the door), but because of the large cardboard signs proclaiming "COMICS" and "POKEMON CARDS" attached to a beat up car out front. The most impressive thing about the store, beyond it's size, is that they easily have 100-200,000 books on the floor. The most horrifying thing about that, though, is when you realize that less then 1/3 of it is bagged and boarded and in order. And the ones that are "in order" still confuse you. The place really does look like a bomb hit it, in many ways. Fixtures that are old, and out of place, are strewn everywhere. The other half of the store is dedicated to a variety of things: Plenty of toys, both new an old (several hundred, in fact), Baseball cards, a corner of shelves for old and used books, T-shirts, hats, paintings. And while the place rightly sounds like a miniature flea market, everything is exactly priced, so you won't have much luck finding too many bargains here (like some good condition claremont X-Men for $1 apeice). Their wall books are nothing to really speak of either. Summary: If you've looked everywhere else for those back issues or toys you've been searching for, drop on by, but make sure to ask for an employee's help, because you may never find it on your own. Trivia: The Comicbook Store sequence in the movie "Unbreakable" was filmed here, although you wouldn't know it, because the filmmakers readjusted the store quite a bit. Note that this store was chosen for the film over other stores in the area because it was the most decrepid.
