- Large, roomy, well-lit store near Port Authority Bus Terminal. If you create an account with them, they'll give you a free $20 every time you spend $100. Enormous modern-age selection with lots of back-issues. They frequently have book signings. Didn't have much in terms of silver-age or golden-age books, and those that they do have tend to be overpriced (even with the discount). Nice selection of SF videos, cartoons, and paperback books.
- Easily the best looking comicbook store in New York, if not the country. Located near both Times Square and the Port Authority, Midtown takes up the second and third floors of the corner of 40th street and 7th avenue. It's large corner windows illuminate the entire store, and on the third floor, backlight the shelves with the many, many cool statues. The third floor also contains a fairly impressive adult section. The wall opposite the counter also has a selection of comicbook and cartoon videos (some bootleg). Where the store faulters is upon closer inspection: Undoubtedly due to the high traffic the store must get, all the good stuff is gone. They don't seem to have a very good back issue selecion (I found only 1 of a list of 30 back issus I was looking for) and their wall book selection wasn't particularly spectacular either. Still, definitely worth checking out to see a good lookng store. I must ask though: they're locatd 2 blocks away from times square, and the close at 9 most nights?
