For a time in the early 2000's -- after the demise of Comics Etc. and before the arrival of More Comics -- Toy City filled in the vacuum as Keene's comic book store. It's actually a large, quirky store with a range of toys from hobbies and modeling to baby cribs and carriages. They've recently moved from the Center at Keene plaza to Key Road (west side of the college from downtown, right next to the cinema) this makes it more out-of-the-way for foot traffic, but college students are probably more likely to stumble across it on the way to the movies. Toy City has a (very) small selection of back issues, a large selection of new issues, a large selection of trade paperbacks and graphic novels. The TPB and GN section includes both superheroes and independent press. As a nice touch, they also package up series or runs of particular titles and sell them together as a discount. [8/12/08]
