Please take all opinions expressed here at the value of what they are: opinions. Comicopia is, without any reservations the best store in the Boston area. They carry the full assortment of Marvel, DC, Wildstorm, etc and are well-stocked all the time. But, perhaps more important, they are extremely independent-publisher friendly. They have more store space devoted to independents than to any of the normal imprints. The selection is very complete, and, if they don't have it(doubtful), they will get it for you in a matter of weeks. Comicopia also has a huge selection of Graphic Novels and Trade Paperbacks. Copies of any GN or TPB that is still in print are on-hand all the time. The store is clean, well-lighted, and well-organized. Matt the store owner once explained the system to me and went on for twenty minutes about the pros and cons of organizing TPBs by publisher or by author. And that is what keeps me coming back, even though I don't live anywhere near them. They have a great staff. Matt and James are the best comic guys around. James works the register, and he's always fun to talk to and joke around with. He makes cool suggestions sometimes, and chicks dig him. Matt is kind of obsessive about the industry, but in a good way not a bad way. They both really care. So, to sum up, it's a clean, well-organized, well-lighted, people-(all people, not just guys)-friendly store with a huge selection and anything you want. There aren't any stores more complete in the Boston area (or a good percentage of the rest of the country for that matter). |
