Please take all opinions expressed here at the value of what they are: opinions. Family is the only store in metro Orlando with a large selection of independent titles, as well as mainstream fare. The proprietor, Jim Hanlon, is nearly always there during business hours (if not, his wife, Alicia, garrisons the shop), and he's knowledgeable in all areas of comics--alternative, golden age, indy, foreign, Marvel. You ask a question, he knows the answer. His grading is also impeccable, and consequently all new comics are in perfect condition in complimentary bags and boards. The store is clean, airy, and well-lit, and it's located in a nice part of Winter Park, Park Avenue. The store has attracted a literate and affluent clientele who read their comics. Should you visit, be prepared to speak intelligently on comics, books, movies, politics, theoretical mathematics, semantics, behavioral psychology, and high-energy particle physics. Really. |
