Store Review:

Store space is 70% comics, with Warhammer stuff, Simpsons and South park paraphanalia, t-shirts, action figures taking up the rest. There's a rack of manga and sci-fi videos and DVDs also. The comic space is about 50% German, 40% English, 10 % French - I can only speak for the English section. There's always a wide range of new trades, with everything of note stocked the month it comes out, and I tend to see things I've not heard of before. Additional to the new stuff, there's an impressive selection of older trades and OGNs, with indy stuff generally better displayed than DC/Marvel books, which mostly stand in boxes on a table. The main body of the trades are racked cover-out for easy browsing. There always seems to be more-or less complete runs of 'essentials' like Love and Rocket / Cerebus / Kabuki / Sandman trades on display, and lots of 'unknown' stuff. Something for everyone, basically. Monthlies are also stocked, but I can't comment on the selection. There appears to be a full catalogue on the website, which accepts orders, but again I haven't used it. Staff are extremely friendly, and accomadating towards pidgin German speakers like myself, and don't seem to mind using English if you're stuck. There's a punk record store in the basement, providing an energetic, if slightly muffled, soundtrack to the browsing experience. The store is well lit - large windows fill 2 of the walls, although they are slightly cluttered with display stock facing the street. The store is slightly cramped, but not oppressively so, and everything is neatly displayed. It's as clean as you'd expect from any bookstore, and generally a pleasant place to shop. Previews is prominently displayed at the counter, so preordering is presumably supported - I've never seen the need to use it though. There's a 10% discount for customers who spend better than 200.- a month. Generally, an excellent store with a selection covering the entire comic spectrum. No complaints.
