Owner/Employee Info/Comments:
Astro is one of Canada's largest (by volume) new comic retailers. We offer an extremely flexible discount comic subscription service and an extensive back issue wantlist search service. We do mail order, with subscribers worldwide. We have been in business since 1984. Our latest addition is our website which is an ongoing and growing feature.

Store Review:
PLEASE NOTE: The views expressed here are not those of THE MASTER LIST, but rather, those of people who have visited the store listed above. Please take all opinions expressed here at the value of what they are: opinions.

  1. This is a service-oriented store: reserves, want-list.. name it, they will do it. The owner, Paul, is a comic-industry guru. The TPB's (trade paperbacks) are now a store specialty.. they have spinners full of them. The owner publishes a summary of Previews called "Astronotes" on his web site with his comments. These folks work real hard to get me my books - I wouldn't go anywhere else. [09-14-05]

  2. They have a great new comics section (everything! from Astronauts In Trouble to Unimpressive X-Men), they even have so much new comics, that X-Men comics usually are at the bottom of the stands, since they store it alphabetically (it's unfortunate when Transmetropolitan isn't seen by many customers, though...) The best aspect of the store are their discounts when you preorder, and the fact that you can preorder whatever you want. The only bad thing is the not-so-great TPB section, although it is improving... Librairie Astro is definitively the best comics store in Montreal; actually, they're the least expensive if you preorder.
